ZZR 1100 c1 starts runs stops !

Postby ConfusedTim » Sun Apr 15, 2018 10:35 am

Hello all , I'm new to this but hopefully someone out there in ZZR land can help me ?
My c1 1100 starts runs for a couple of seconds stops as if it's not getting any fuel ! I've tried gravity feed and hot wiring the pump but no difference . Has anyone got any suggestions as to what the problem might be ?
Regards Tim Cheers ☺

It certainly sounds like a fuelling problem. What happens when it stops? Will it restart?

I've tried gravity feed and hot wiring the pump but no difference .

Try connecting your gravity feed direct to the carbs.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to what the problem might be ?

It is difficult to diagnose these things remotely.

Could it be something simple like a couple of fouled spark plugs?
Start it a couple of times and then check the temperature of the
exhaust headers to see if it is running on all cylinders. Mind your fingers.

Check the in-line fuel filter (if the C model has one).
Check the fuel pump and electrical connectors. Your gravity feed test should
eliminate anything to to with the fuel tank or tap.

Does it still have a good spark after it stops/fails?

If all else fails, you will probably need to remove the carbs and have a look.

Lots more questions. Was the bike laid up for a while. Blocked or gummed up
needle valves or carb jets? ......

Good Luck with it.

ps:
Doh! Just noticed the date of the first post. I expect it is well sorted by now.
