Head gasket

Postby berezasp » Mon Aug 22, 2011 12:23 pm

Hi guys looking for some advice I have a 2002 1200 I think the head gasket has gone, does the engine need to be removed in order to carry out the works? I intend doing this myself. Thanks in advance

In the 1100 It's too fiddly I'm sure. I've seen one with the tank off and the motor is really crammed in there.

I'd suggest you drop the engine - it'll make your job much easier.

Hi guys
Thanks for this but panic over. Might be of interest to others though...
The good news is that it is not the head gasket after all but either rain water or rinsing after washing when on the side stand that has run into No1 plug giving the impression that the water was coming from the plug seat.
After everything was fully dried off, the bike had a good test run and everything has stayed dry.
Long may it last.
All the best
Adrian
