Stuttering when pulling away

Postby Stonefly » Fri Sep 27, 2013 5:03 pm

Hi Folks, My ZZR12 C4H Is stuttering as it pulls away from standing. It mostly seems to happen at low RPM and when the bike is hot. It kind of feels like fuel starvation, but as soon as the revs rise above 2k, it clears and runs fine. It is however, a bit of a problem when riding through slow traffic and when pulling away from traffic lights etc. Anyone have any ideas what may be the cause and solution please?
Cheers!

Is the 12 an automatic choke?

Hi Steve, No, its a manual cable choke. I have checked this and it seems to be fully returning to the open position when I roll the lever back. The lever is very smooth too, so I have no concerns with it.
To be honest, I suspect the carbs need stripping and the jets cleaning - I am just in denial at the thought of having to pull the carbs. I hate pulling carbs!!!
I wonder if there is anything that can be added to the fuel to break down any muck and grime in there?

Redex seems to break glaze up nicely if you tip it down the breathers.after draining the carbs

Which breathers? There seems to be more breathers and air pipes on these things than an intensive care ward at the QE!!!!
