carb needles

Postby neilb » Tue Apr 14, 2015 7:24 pm

I get a slight misfire occasionally between 3 and 4 thousand rpm, There doesn't seem to be any consistent pattern to when it happens-some days there is nothimg and other times it feels like fuel starvation or a misfire.
I have been told that kawasaki's from that time (2002) are prone to problems with the carbs due to the ethanol in modern petrol damaging the needles. Does anyone else know of this or anything that could cause the problem??

I think they may mean clogging up the jets. Which ethanol sitting does do.
Low rpms to about 3K you're on your pilot jets. If that's always good and it's starts right up promptly and idles well they may be fine.
Needles are midrange but I don't think that ethanol will damage them. Mine are old and fine at 54K

thanks for the replies-since i put this on here the misfire has disappeared!! (touch wood) but its good to hear from other people who have got respectable mileage on their bikes. Mine has just passed 53000 and the next closest i've seen was in the mid 20's (hardly even run in?)
