zzr1100 coolant path

I'm using this engine in a kit car build but struggling to work out the correct path/flow for the coolant and rad.

Can anyone help?

From what I can tell, the coolant comes out of the pipe just under the carbs, into the thermostat, radiator then back into the water pump.

Is this correct?

there seems to be a smaller 12mm? outlet near the starter motor, that not in the image below, what is this used for?

Yep - to be precise, it flows from the pump; to the manifold (middle left of pic); through the block/head; out the manifold (middle right of pic); through the thermostat; through the radiator, back to pump. It's a simple flow-limiting single loop circuit, unlike cars that typically use full-flow, dual-loop circuits.

Perfect, thanks for the detailed info - I've updated the picture in my first post.

I guess the thermostat must always be fractionally open, or have a small hole, otherwise the heat would never reach it.
